Merry Christmas!!

@Ahiku holy **** you have a lot of youtube subscribers! I happened to click to open it in a new tab instead of watching the embedded version... (I have 8 subscribers lolol) Also I think your vocal range is nearly an octave above mine. I'm like... a mezzo alto. I can sing tenor parts to songs.

Also gross KFC things for Christmas (because we all want to know more about how nasty it all is on this lovely day) I think just about everything in frozen beforehand. They take out the chicken from the freezer in giant bags, heat it up, bread it, and deep fry it. I think even the breads are frozen beforehand. Basically they have everything that they can in the freezer so it won't go bad. I think I blocked some of the grossest parts of my sister's stories out of my memories... Just HOW the things are made are gross, I just don't remember all the details.

But... bakeries are great! I worked at a bakery and it was actually not gross (except the dishes always were kinda greasy from years of butter, I got in trouble the one day I was assigned to cleaning because I took way too long on each dish). But everything we made was fresh that day (or was otherwise marked as discounted stuff and that was only up to a few days with pastries and cookies). We only sold at farmers markets, which kind of made it easier to clean and start over. We'd give a bunch of our leftover food to this one family that had a lot of adopted and foster children, which was definitely better than throwing it away.  And then later I was a baker at a coffee shop and that was fun. I felt like Karan making all those tasty cookies and scones.

"Isn't it obvi? I'm so ready." *Nezumi screams in terror*

Lol I'm glad you enjoyed them. Hopefully Lumpy Space Shion won't haunt you too much.

KFC is a terrible place btw. Just saying. My sister worked there so she knows how gross and awful it is.

Also as someone who has served cafeteria food, I can tell you it's all kinda gross. It's like "take this frozen thing you trust is meat(?) and then put it in this questionable hot greasy tank and then scoop it out and serve it?"

Dude-ify everything. Live your dreams.

To give you an idea, one of the first lines dub Nezumi has is "dude, you're so weird." And when he says "right" it sounds awfully surfer-dude.

So we all know and love anime dub dude-zumi (okay we don't actually love him) so here's a thread to destroy all of Nezumi's quotes to be more... Righteous, dude.

@Ghosty I think we need to start a thread just for altering Nezumi quotes to be totally über dude.

I know the decision between giving Nezumi a jacket or a poncho was decided because the jacket looked cooler. And then they gave Inukashi the poncho. The yellow shirt was to brighten up his design (same with Shion's sweater). I have no idea about the pants. Or anything else.

I think those "simple pleasures" like walking through the fancy parks are more to make people "happy" and give them some fresh air. But they're still test subject. And the bikes were the main form of transportation for people aside from that big ol' boat. And Elyurias was part of the sudden spike of bike riding considering all her "babies" inside people (EW) drove into their thoughts to make them "healthy hosts" (EEEWWW) like getting exercise.

I realize now in the other topic when I said Shion was a "pampered prince" that it could be taken as "he was spoiled with everything he wanted." But I consider exactly what you described as being a "pampered prince." He has everything provided to him, but he has no freedom. And I agree with everything you said about his childhood. He has a lot of responsibility and is basically a tiny adult. Heck, even his bed is adult-sized.

He likes breaking the rules, like in the novels when he speeds on his bike. How much you wanna bet that moment he zoomed down the hill in the anime was one of the rare moments he felt any form of exhilaration? And then a storm and Nezumi and sewing up wounds... All very exciting when he's had the same dull schedule of learning his specialty subject. It's no wonder he had that "scary look" on his face when he gets to stitch up Nezumi. Maybe part of helping Nezumi was for the sake of breaking the rules.

I'd say one thing I disagree with is that he had no part in the downfall of No.6. He did aid Nezumi in destroying stuff... Even if his personal mission was just to save Safu. But I do think that was part of his guilt that made him stay. And then he falls back into the pattern of doing work he doesn't want to do all day instead of living life, though this time it's driven by guilt instead of simply having nothing else to do.

If we want to get specific, I think the anime had the entire first episode set when they were twelve for good reason. It showed just how easy yet mundane Shion's life had been, and then established the relationship between Nezumi and Shion as well as showing just how profound this all was to Shion. It also gave an intro to the setting, like how there's six cities, yadda yadda yadda... I think it also did a decent job of showing that Shion wasn't really content to begin with. It didn't have his "destroy everything" bit, but he still wasn't paying attention in class, looked a bit unhappy when Safu's grandmother went on about No.6 doing everything for them so they had nothing to ever worry about, and he made his comment about the Moondrop being a "blister on the earth." Of course it was questionable to dedicate an entire episode on that when they only had eleven episodes to work with in the first place. Maybe they could have worked it into the first half of an episode. Still, I think it did a good job of introducing the setting and Shion's life inside No.6 pretty well so the audience would have that part of the story to think back on later when we see the West Block and all of Shion's growth while facing hardships. I think it was important to emphasize the stark difference when no one watching the anime has had a life like Shion's. He's a pampered prince!

Yeah! Welcome, welcome. Wooloo! I'll also probably do livestreams of the anime next year, which will be posted on the Restructural Committee blog as well. I think that would be an awesome place to meet even more people since the forum is a bit quiet.

That would make sense considering they are tied up like a bow tie (and not one of those stereotypical frilly cravats, pretty sure "cravat" is an interchangeable term)! If I didn't have to stop baking, I'd try out making some.

I just remembered a funny Halloween story... So my friend's family one year left out a bowl of candy on the porch with a "take one" sign (as some people do, not everyone can take the time to hand it out but they'll still want to give out candy, not that it's mandatory by any means). As you might expect, some kids are little **** and take all the candy and leave the empty bowl. Anyway, they had the bowl of candy on a scarecrow's lap in a chair on the front porch. But... The scarecrow was my friend's dad in a really believable costume. He stayed perfectly still for the kids that took only one piece of candy, but jumped up and yelled whenever kids tried to take more. I think he made one kid pee his pants that year. (If I ever have a house myself where I can hand out candy, I'm absolutely doing this.)

I just remembered, back in high school I always performed with our makeshift Christmas brass band. We'd freeze our asses off playing outside at the "Christmas in Millheim" festival... I live in Millheim as of today, so I'll be right in the middle of it. I wonder if they still do that band.

Also since I live where holidays are really overdone, I was thinking of making videos just walking around and seeing anything interesting like decorations. Like Las Vegas East, as my grandpa liked to call our old neighbor's house around Christmas. Everything was lights. EVERYTHING.
