When and how did you become a No. 6 fan? :D
« on: May 20, 2015, 12:10:33 pm »
Tell us!

Okaaaay~ Well...

I discovered No. 6 in the late summer of 2013. My boss sent me home because I was deadly pale and not feeling very well and had to stay at home for 2 weeks or so. I wanted to watch an anime then and remembered Routasu/Lancha’s No. 6 pictures on Animexx, a huge German anime community. I always loved her pictures, but I also know that she’s not always drawing canon ships and I thought that Nezumi and Shion are not THAAAT close. Hehe. :D When I watched the first episode, I started to think: “Hm… somehow they are pretty… gay.  *__* *rechecking the summary and the tags on that streaming webpage*” X’D I lost it then and watched all episodes at once. The next day, I watched it again… the third day, I started to read the manga and then the novels. I finished them in one week. X’D AND I STILL DON’T HAVE ENOUGH!!!
After that I started to read a lot of fanfics… and met Yuneyn and she introduced me to Tumblr later. :3 I joined Tumblr in December 2013, because I wanted to share my NezuShi fanstuff. ^^

Ok, that's it. And you guys? ^^

@Ahiku: okay I swear I thought you were on tumblr since like the start of the anime or something XD; just feels like you've been around forever. But yikes, talking about fun ways to discover new things >_< well hopefully No. 6 helped you recover very quickly? ^^;;;
Ahh and Routasu/Lancha's art is super lovely indeed~

Hmmm my story is a bit all over the place. Back in February 2012, my long-time friend introduced me to a couple of manga series at the same time. (She has a habit of introducing things to me that end up taking over my life tbh XD; idk how she does it, but she does.) One of them was No. 6, which was still being scanlated at the time, so I rushed through the manga until that point (chapter 13 - conveniently the one after the kiss, ahem) and got really excited, but I'm really bad at keeping up with running series, especially if they're monthly. So I think I did read up whenever there was an update, but I frequently forgot, oops.

Then in April 2013, same friend brought up No. 6 again and mentioned there were novels - I knew they existed, but wasn't aware that they were floating around online, so I jumped on them and read them in a couple of days. Annnd then I immediately ordered them in Japanese for practice. XD;
I watched the anime with my friend not too long after, but I think that was the wrong order and I haven't rewatched the anime since because it kind of fell flat to me after the novels and the manga. S-sorry. I do love the ED a ton though!

hmmmmm well I first watched No. 6 at around the end of 2013 I believe? maybe beginning of 2014. It really doesn't feel like its been that long...

I had been seeing No. 6 all over my tumblr dashboard for a while, and I thought the characters and art looked very nice, so I figured I would go watch it. One night and zero hours of sleep later, I had finished it all in one night and spent the rest of the school day telling all my friends to watch No. 6 while fighting off my fatigue (When I finally got my sister to watch it, she spent half the time running around the house screaming about how gay shion and nezumi were). It took me a while to begin trying to buy all of the manga, since I couldn't find most of it online, but now I own and have read the whole thing and am on the final book of the novels.

And that's pretty much it. My love for the series has only grown since uwu

Okay, I actually don't remember the day I started watching No.6 but it was around the beginning of 2012. My girlfriend at the time, who I'd met through the Persona 4 fandom (what are the odds?), suggested that I watch it. And it was all downhill from there. I haven't been writing fics or cosplaying No.6 for quite that long, but I've been around... just not as this blog. I think I've remade my tumblr three times since then. But yeah, I was a late arrival to the "original fandom" *cough who even cares cough* and I missed the original airing. I was still there for preordering the DVD (and keeping it because it was my gf's birthday present and she DUMPED ME BEFORE IT ARRIVED HAHA I WIN) and for when Beyond was released. I'm just an old fart around here and no one knows it. :)

So I was curious when I got into No. 6 exactly and upon rooting through my tumblr date settings it was somewhere around March 2012 when I first posted any No. 6 stuff. SO THERE IT IS! I remember having trouble finding the last episode because I watched episodes 1-10 on various sites and NO WHERE had episode 11 so. I had to watch the ending with spanish subs on youtube and guess.

(I was actually looking for another anime, but the only thing I knew about it was that it was 'sad' and both of the main characters were male, and one had white hair. When I saw the opening had two guys and one had white hair I thought it was right. I still don't know what the anime I was looking for but I'm glad I found No. 6)

...I enjoyed it so much that I made a terrible ask blog that absolutely no one noticed or kind of covered their eyes and looked away from. WHICH I wound up deleting it after a week so NO ONE COULD EVER FIND IT eVER. it was so bad seriously oh god.

Then I took a break from No. 6 for a little bit but the ending really bugged me because bees? And then I found out their were novels and I had to find a translation of them. I wound up reading the translations off and on, but it was kind of a dry period because I was bad about keeping up with the updates and I didn't understand the fandom back then (I kind of wish I got to see a lot more of the artists and stuff that left but I didn't really, I only casually watched the No. 6 tag on tumblr)

A couple years ago I /still/ loved No. 6 and I came back to it. I restarted the novels and for some reason they hit me a lot more. Then I started shamelessly stalking the tag, read more fic, reread the novels, wrote some fic never written for any other fandom but No. 6 is something special.

So YEAH that was way too many words to describe something so simple.

First I saw some fanart I think on Polish anime/manga memes page. I liked characters look and thought that they look good together, but I wasn't in yaoi couples for years so I let it go.
Always when I was checking amazon for pandora hearts manga, magi or other titles, amazon kept trow at me NO.6 manga as recommendation, still I kept away from it.
Just when one of our polish publisher announcement that he will release NO.6 manga I thought I check it. First volume didn't amazed me but as more as I started to read, as I watched anime I just was lost, I fell in love with it.
And fandom, holy good how nice is NO.6 fandom, I don't think I ever saw so many good quality fanarts from any fandom I was until now. It's first fandom I really like read fanfiction and they are in 70% good quality.
And this fandom is so cute. My last fandom was all complain, complain, I done many thing in it and always feel like I was alone in all my projects. Here, only thing is hard complained is Nezumi's leave (you idiot!), it's warm, there are people who give a hand. It's really fun.

Did I say that after anime/manga end I laid down bed for week like a dead fish? XD

Well, I started watching it two weeks ago! (I am now in hell)

I'm sort of sad I have nothing new to look forward to officially, but this forum and community seems awesome!

@ghosty: omg, you're on the last stretch of the novels? *prepares a tissue box for you* XD

@Weisel: Senpai status!!! :D It's nice to hear that you've loved No.6 for so long though~ ;u;

@secretagentfan: OMG you watched it in Spanish?? XD T-that's real dedication, haha!! AW, it's great that you're back. ^_^ and there's nothing shameless about stalking the tags... XD;; *totally guilty as well*

@kare_reiko: LOL YOUR DEADFISH COMMENT. I feel like we can all relate to that... Hahaha, the things No.6 does to us. T_T

@jjbinkes: Ohh!! If you watched the anime, then have you read the manga or novels? I highly recommend them; they'll make you cry all over again. X3

I actually heard of the series a long time ago (around the time when Allen from D. Gray Man got his Crown Clown? if that makes sense to anyone). I was a fan of DGM and the No.6 fandom sometimes leaked into it because the character designs were very similar, but I wasn't interested back then... I'm pretty sure I tried reading a few pages of the first chapter and I just wasn't captivated... I was too young and immature to understand the complexities of Utopias and long sentences, hahaha.
BUT THEN, this past December, a friend of mine had reblogged the second kiss on tumblr and I was bored and curious .... and now life has never been the same since. XD I quickly combed through as much of the manga as I could find, skimmed parts of the anime, and read all the translated volumes by 9th avenue. X3

I think this is only the second fandom that I've fallen so in love with, so I'm very happy I could find it~ XD

@secretagentfan I feel you on the thing about watching the Spanish no. 6. Before the english translations for the manga came out, I was super desperate to find out what happened so I pulled up the japanese scanlations on my laptop and I summary of it on my phone and read them at the same time. (I should've prepared my emotions... my tears were actually painful)

@ meopat oh no... I've cried over this series too much I can't go through this pain again ;n;

Wow, it's fun to see how we all got together here xD

Okay, so it actually started with tumblr. I picked up a habit to check out manga screenshots that are nice-looking. And as it happens, the prostitute scene from No.6 kept floating around my dash so one day I just said to myself to finally check this manga out. Read it in about two to three days. That was end 2013, I think?
Okay, so it broke off at chapter 21 and I desperately searched for the other ones online. Nowhere to be found. While searching for the manga, I actually discovered there was an anime but swore to me to not watch it because first: It was completed and the manga scanlation wasn't; never a good sign. And secondly, I thought the art didn't look as good as the manga's art so I didn't want to watch it.
As it came, I got so desperate that I watched it either way. And wept at the ending. Kept telling myself that maybe the original series wouldn't end like that but tumblr corrected that in a few days. And then I found out about the novels and I'm still somewhere at the beginning of the 7th volume but hey! They're always on my phone! The whole time! Just have to start reading again ^^"

So, yeah. That's my story xD

Ahhhh okay I love this one

Last summer I got into anime somehow and I made a blog on Tumblr and followed this amazing person who blogged about No. 6, and I asked her which anime was and what it was about because it looked interesting :3 and I think I hadn't even noticed the gay yet lol, so she explained what it was about and I started watching it and WOOO it was so lovely, and then I read the manga (which was nowhere to be found in its complete glory *throws socks*) so eventually I started reading the novels and believe me when I say that I never cry at series or books or whatever (I think I hadn't even cried when I watched the anime (please don't kill me) though it was a close call) but I shed tears when Nezumi left in the novels :( ugh I felt sad for days honestly...

But yes that's my story and these two dorks still make me squeak when they appear on my dash :')

Well, this should be a good topic for a first post.

It was last week, I went on a trip to Germany and browsed the Manga section of a bookstore for something good and there it was. I picked it up and thumbed through and it looked interesting. Yes. Suffice to say it was read by the time my train arrived back in my hometown and I was irritated for only having bought the first volume. *laugh*
So I went browsing around the internet and found the anime, watched it all in two days and... I was really not okay with it being over already, so I went digging deeper and I found a translation of the novels. I fell in love with them and read all nine and Beyond in 3 days flat. By now I bought the rest of the Manga that is available (they're up to 4 on the German translation by now...) and I decided on an RP account on tumblr.
... I'm also considering a cosplay.

It's all fresh, but taking into account that I'm not the type to get into something quickly and drop it two weeks later, this was an instant love and I bet it will last.

Hello @Kai, welcome! Willkommen! :D
A trip to Germany? Where do you come from? Austria? Switzerland? Since you're apparently able to speak German. (Btw. the 5th volume is out now here. o.o I bought it last week...or the week before last week.)

Hey ^^ Thank you.

From Switzerland. And... I went looking for them but I only found the volume 4 pile with the new arrivals. I probably looked the day before they put out the new ones or something like that (or all the 5's were gone already). Ah, well... I guess I'll go see what they cost here. If I can handle that sum. Too expensive this country...
