An analysis of SafuKashi
« on: November 26, 2014, 05:09:06 pm »
You asked for a Safu board. Here is your Safu board.
With a side of everybody's favourite Dogkeeper!
Yep, this is a board about SafuKashi. Nezushi gets too much time in the limelight anyway

So... when I first joined this fandom, and I saw posts of people shipping Safu with Inukashi, I was like... why?
Now I'm like... aww, it's cute, I guess. But at the same time, I'm not really sure how it came about. I wanna hear you guys's reasons why you ship this pairing. Convince me!

Some things SafuKashi has going for it (in my opinion):
-Inukashi is a very genuine person who isn't afraid to let their feelings show. Hopefully they'd help encourage Safu to do the same, just by being themself.
-At the same time, they have very good intuition about what others are thinking and feeling. Maybe they'd be able to understand Safu better than other people because of it. (Safu is pretty reserved, or at least has a reserved demeanor, unless she's really worked up about something.)
-Safu has sh*t tonnes of guts, whereas Inukashi... well, they're a bit of a coward in certain situations. But I bet they'd do scary things on her behalf, if they really cared about her, which I'm sure they do. (Oh, how romantic!)

Yep, that's what I got.

P.S. Use whatever pronouns you want for Inukashi. If anyone gripes about the ones you picked, I'll bark at them. Woof woof. >:[

I'm not sure if Inukashi's really someone who isn't afraid to show their honest feelings ... I mean, they live in the West Block and in the end, showing your true feelings - especially feelings of kindness or love or even that you care for somebody more than for others - gets you exploited. I'd say they would be really reluctant and very careful to show their true feelings in the beginning; I can't shake of the picture of a dog that isn't sure if you're going to pet it or hit it until your hand is too close to avoid it.

But well ... I agree that Safu's directness would lead Inukashi to like her. And Safu speaks very freely about her feelings when they're strong enough and she has guts, like you said. That would probably lead Inukashi to open up considerably when they see that there's no hidden meaning (or threat) behind her words.

So yeah, I never shipped SafuKashi actively because of the whole building a world around them that you would have to do but I'm always happy when it shows up and ship it in the background.

So I wrote a response to this and AmtrakConnect ate it. What the f*ck, man.

Let me try and rewrite it:

I'm going to explain what I meant about showing one's emotions openly. Because you're right, Inukashi didn't have the complete freedom to show his emotions that Shion had. But I think that when he does show an emotion, he does it in much healthier ways than Nezumi and Safu do.
You see, Nezumi is completely repressing his emotions. Whatever he's feeling, he wants to deny it. If he has to express an emotion, it usually comes out as some kind of action, an action which usually brings bodily harm to other people. No matter what the real emotion was in the first place, someone ends up getting stabbed.
Safu, on the other hand, doesn't really use facial expressions when she's expressing herself. I mean, she does, but she relies a lot more on words. Very blunt words, too. To me, it always seemed a bit like she put her scientific side between herself and the world. She doesn't seem very spontaneous.
Inukashi, though. When they're happy, they laugh. (See: Shion getting tricked by their assassin's ring.) When they're in pain, they cry. (See: Inukashi getting their toe sewed up by Shion in the beyond). When they're annoyed by Rikiga, they argue with him. I think that their emotions are very spontaneous and natural, when they choose to express them.

I think you're right and that Safu being direct is a good thing, because it will make Inukashi feel free to express themself all the time, instead of only some of the time. On the other hand, Safu needs to suspend that scientist self that intermediates between her emotions and the world.

Hope that made sense. Also, hope it was accurate, because I can't check the anime until I get off this train!

Oh, and I like your metaphor of the dog that is afraid of being hit... (But a dog would growl, or alternately wag its tail, right? They'd let Safu know they were afraid...)

I see :) Yeah, I totally agree with this. I really like how you put that.
Inukashi is much more healthy in expressing their feelings and Safu really seems to - I don't know - shield herself from her feelings and the world with her scientific side. Though she's very emotional when she meets Shion in the Correctional Facility so I think she can be truly emotional if her feelings are strong enough.

I don't know. Yeah, I think a dog feeling like that would growl. But only if the hand would come too close. I mean, it's better to reject a friendly gesture than getting hit, right? So it's denying the contact altogether but waiting long enough to eventually get a sign of the true intent. At least some dogs. If I imagine a dog with human understanding (which Inukashi is, somehow) - because you wouldn't let go a chance of friendly contact either, right?
Well, you could see it as Inukashi having a kind of ... wary expression but altogether they wouldn't threaten Safu just for trying to get closer to them. Uhm ... yeah, I got too caught up in explaining this metaphor xD
