Title: No. 6 music
Post by: Vox on May 12, 2014, 07:24:06 pm
This is a board to share songs that you think fit No. 6 somehow! It's okay if they're in another language (feel free to translate some lyrics for us) or even if they're instrumental.

Let's get this party started!

Here are a few of my own favourites:
A sad song for Nezumi on the road:
Blue Caravan, by Vienna Teng
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7OXNjXEV5hI
He said, "Go where you have to,
for I belong to you until my dying day."
So like a fool, Blue Caravan,
I believed him, and I walked away

A slightly sad Nezushi song:
Bloodsport by Raleigh Ritchie
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WQ_2XgF-us0
Although you love me, sometimes we meet
Things can get ugly but we're still a team
We are an army, the brakes are within
But that's why we're stronger, and that's how we'll win

This is just forever my NezuShi song.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5AiSrCPvpco (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5AiSrCPvpco)

And this song fits pretty close and I'm pretty sure I cried the first five times I listened to this song. And right now. I just started crying right now. Shoot.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hzfU2VcVi9s (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hzfU2VcVi9s)

Also, what about a place to put covers of No.6 music? Can that go here, too?
Title: Re: No. 6 music

AHHH YES RADICAL FACE okay. I think their song Welcome Home is good for a Nezushi reunion.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pqi4whXaHx8
Peel the scars from off my back,
I don't need them anymore
You can throw them out
Or keep them in your mason jars

Perhaps we ought to start a new thread for covers? They're a bit of a different kettle of fish. I haven't got any covers to post, so perhaps you could do it? =)
Title: Re: No. 6 music
Post by: Weisel on May 12, 2014, 08:09:02 pm
I actually don't have any covers done yet, but everyone in my apartment left this weekend so I have the whole place to myself which means all the recording I want...

If no one else makes that thread before I have something to share, I'll start that. But at the moment, I've got nothing.

Oh I absolutely love this post! So many songs remind me of No.6...
Here's two for the moment:

Lifehouse - From Where You Are

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ToXrwlKQl_c

I always think of Nezushi when I listen to this song, I feel like this could fit perfectly to the time they're apart before their reunion.

Gabrielle Aplin - Salvation

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FFXeLBeO-Fc

This song sounds so beautiful to me, and somehow always makes me think of Nezumi and how Shion changed his life.

Oh and I would love to hear your covers @Weisel !
Ahiku already posted hers in the Theater section: http://no6.createaforum.com/the-theater/(masterpost)-ahiku's-no-6-cover/
So you can create a new post over there for your covers as well! (we're trying to keep it one post per artist this way it's easy to access someone's work!)

This thread is great for so many reasons xD

Also!

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CL4l-KK6JbI (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CL4l-KK6JbI)

Whenever I listen to this song, I can see it from both Shion and Nezumi's perspective. It's good to see another choice from Gabrielle Aplin @Yuneyn ! Her music is really beautiful.

So I've got 40+ hours of driving to do in less than a month and I've been making playlists for the trip... I don't know if making a NezuShi playlist from all of your contributions would be a fantastic or terrible idea. Everything is so beautiful, but I also don't want to cry while driving.

I'll probably end up doing it anyway. Just keep adding to this thread until I have at least 20 hours of music.

Ah I hope you have a safe journey :) haha, yes, all of these contributions are great and wow A+ guaranteed to make you sob. I forgot to add this one in too, it reminds me of each other's feelings after parting. T__T I like to think that, no matter what happens, of course they'll meet again.

@sshion @yuneyn EXCELLENT MUSIC thank you for sharing!! i'm expanding my playlist right now.

@Weisel well if that's the case, I have more where that came from.

https://soundcloud.com/jonhopkins/jon-hopkins-monsters-theme (https://soundcloud.com/jonhopkins/jon-hopkins-monsters-theme) this beautiful song I associate with No. 6 thanks to this post: http://vox-clamantis-in-deserto.tumblr.com/post/73613872570/nadzo3-7-00-pm-here-why-cant-i-just-sleep-like (http://vox-clamantis-in-deserto.tumblr.com/post/73613872570/nadzo3-7-00-pm-here-why-cant-i-just-sleep-like) (which you may have already seen, since it's so popular!)

also Oceanside, by Alex Wong ft Ximena Sariñana:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1ehcwq2vo6Q (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1ehcwq2vo6Q)

Everybody finds a way
Everybody must survive
You will learn your lesson
You will learn to pick a side

To me it really speaks to the days they spent in the underground room together...

In Your Eyes by Peter Gabriel:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=B3kFPBtc9BE (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=B3kFPBtc9BE)

Love, I get so lost, sometimes
days pass, and this emptiness fills my heart
when I want to run away I drive off in my car
but whichever way I go
I come back to the place you are

Title: Re: No. 6 music
Post by: listenforthelove on May 24, 2014, 10:43:39 am
Ahh, I meant to reply to this thread earlier but I got distracted, oops. Anyway, I really associate this song with the later Correctional Facility events:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gJEoxeW7JvQ

Bleeding out - Imagine Dragons

Oh, you tell me to hold on
But innocence is gone
And what was right is wrong

'Cause I'm bleeding out
So if the last thing that I do
Is to bring you down
I'll bleed out for you
So I bare my skin
And I count my sins
And I close my eyes
And I take it in
And I'm bleeding out
I'm bleeding out for you

(Actually I associate more of their songs with No. 6, which may or may not be the reason I bought the album, haha. This was the first one I latched onto, however.)

And someone else I definitely want to mention is KOKIA, a Japanese singer-songwriter. (I'm quite a fan of her, so I'm a bit biased and tend to connect her songs to all the things I love, ssh.) She often sings about nature itself and the human nature, also themes in No. 6. I struggle to bring up just one song, so have two of my absolute favourites:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tehrLcmRMwA

Chouwa oto ~with reflection~ - KOKIA (sound of harmony)

She starts to reverse the Japanese sounds in the second part of the song, which is why it may sound a little funny. Translation from here (http://www.kiwi-musume.com/lyrics/kokia/trip%20trip/chouwa.htm):

In the midst of the silence, a single drop
Causes a ripple that spreads through the water at the bottom of the well

The winter wind shakes the forest in my noisy heart
The things that can live with it stay as they are

Everyone who has heard the quiet voice in this forest has shed tears at noise

3 25 15 21 23 1
(this spells 'Cyouwa', harmony - next are the reversed lyrics)

Ceaselessly and quietly forest this in sounds of cacophony the
Heart noisy my in peace restore

Born is born is born is sound a
Sounds of sea the into sinks sinks sinks and
Born is born is born is sound a
Sounds of sea the with in blends blends blends and

I can't help but think of Nezumi's background, and of Shion in the very beginning with the storm.

And finally:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UijT7UK1Bj4

Kodoku na ikimono - KOKIA (Lonely beings)

This post is getting rather long, but I translated the lyrics over here (http://kokialyrics.tumblr.com/post/60195117396/kokia-kodoku-na-ikimono-lonely). This is mostly a gut feeling in combination with the title.

Apologies for the length and the late reply!

Thank you all for the latest music suggestion!!!

@listenforthelove I think I fell in love with Kodoku Na Ikimono... It's so incredibly beautiful. I need it in my playlist now^^ If you have other suggestions from KOKIA don't hesitate to send me a MP, I'm always glad to add more Japanese songs to my playlists! (I saw you were a fan on your asterinjapan tumblr^^ it's nice that you got to see her twice in concert!!)

So many nice songs *-*

I also want to share one...
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CJI2By29XeE
Sorry, it's just a fandub, lol XD I'm too lazy to search a proper version. That's why the English sounds so horrible. But I just wanted to sing it because the song reminded me of Nezumi and Shion...

Sitting in the garden, walking on the road
I feel so sad, I feel alone
I try to hide the way I feel inside
Can't you see the sparkles in my eyes?

Sadness and fear are waiting ahead
Wherever you'll be I know we'll be friends
Would you be mine if I could melt your heart?
Would you see the sparkles in my eyes?

I'll be waiting for you
I swear I'll be waiting
Come rain or come shine
I will wait for you, my friend
I'll be searching for you I swear
Day and night I will wait

I think there are parts for both of them in this song...
Nezumi's on the road, searching for his own self and maybe he'll start to search his way back to him when he has finally realized that he needs him. Both feel alone. And Shion's sad. (Nezumi, too... probably. XD)
Shion's waiting, and he'll always wait for him, no matter what happens.

OMG... I just heard this song and can't stop laughing, because I imaginged Shion singing it and sending a singing telegram to Nezumi. ^^° I wonder how Nezumi would react. I guess it would make him run away even more. ^^°Especially when Shion sents it with this kind of background...

@Ahiku every time we touch is the quintessential amv song XD
I like that this is nicer than the original though... less dance-beat-y.

Here is a metal version, just for funzies.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CAbNGe1PWoY

Okay, now we're way off track.
Here's another Nezushi song I added to my repertoire lately:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pBMwwJMkcRA
The lyrics are even accurate. They talk about loving your best friend. (With gender-correct pronouns and everything!)

and now, an a capella song for nezumi to sing:

Papaoutai

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oiKj0Z_Xnjc

It's a french song but it's pretty popular people so you guys probably know it it's about a son talking about his absent father.
It reminds me how Shion's father is absent his whole damn life like get back to your son now you mean old man

anyway I was half kidding I'll find better songs when I'll have free time! <( ̄︶ ̄)>
(I should really get back to my duties )

Ahh, I’m just listening to a pretty old German song. I love this song… because I think the melody is very beautiful, and it’s also sad. ^^ I guess it’s one of my favorite German songs, they’ve written it in my birth year when Germany was still parted in two separate countries: GDR and FRG. I was two years old when they reunited, and I was born in the GDR, in a country that doesn’t exist anymore. ^^° Well, some people think, they’ve written this song because a lot of people fled to the FRG back then.

“Als ich forging” means “When I went away”

I just found it accidentally on Youtube…and it was so nostalgic. XD And then I just thought: WOW, and now it reminds me so much of Nezumi. O_O Nezumi’s departure. And how he’s trying to calm himself down softly… and how he might think about Shion. Awww! ;_;
Here’s a translation… (he’s singing about a woman. ^^° But well, it could also be for a dude when you exchange he/she…)

Als ich fortging, war die Straße steil, kehr wieder um.
When I went away the road was steep, turn around and go back.

Nimm an ihrem Kummer teil, mach sie heil.
Share her sorrow, make her sound. (Give her salvation…)

Als ich fortging, war der Asphalt heiß, kehr wieder um.
When I went away, the asphalt was hot, turn around and go back.

Red ihr aus um jeden Preis, was sie weiß.
At all cost, talk her out of what she knows.

Nichts ist unendlich, so sieh das doch ein.
Nothing is infinite, realize it yet…

Ich weiß, du willst unendlich sein, schwach und klein.
I know you want to be infinite, weak and small.

Feuer brennt nieder, wenn's keiner mehr nährt.
Fire burns down, when nobody nourishes it any longer.

Kenn´ ja selber, was dir heut widerfährt.
I myself know very well, what happens to you today.

Als ich fortging, war´n die Arme leer, kehr wieder um.
When I went away, the arms were empty, turn around and go back.

Machs ihr leichter, einmal mehr, nicht so schwer.
Make it easier for her, once again…not that hard.

Als ich fortging kam ein Wind so schwach, warf mich nicht um.
When I went away, a wind arrived, so weak, it didn’t knock me over.

Unter ihrem Tränendach war ich schwach.
Under her roof of tears I was weak. (I have no idea how to translate it properly… meaning is: Her tears made me weak. Or better: because of her tears I was weak.)

Nichts ist unendlich, so sieh das doch ein.
Nothing is infinite, realize it yet…

Ich weiß, du willst unendlich sein, schwach und klein.
I know you want to be infinite, weak and small.

Nichts ist von Dauer, was keiner recht will.
Nothing is permanent; it’s something no one really wants…

Auch die Trauer wird da sein, schwach und klein.
Even grief will be there then, weak and small.

I've got a good one to share! :D

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7CyuF9gv9Vs

It's not meant to be like this,
not what I planned at all.
I don't want to feel like this,
so that makes it all your fault.

Ahh, I really love this song. In my opinion it perfectly summarises novel/manga Nezumi's conflicted feelings towards Shion during the series. How he doesn't want to develop feelings, calls it a weakness, but is ultimately powerless to stop it. There's even a pretty cool No.6 amv (http://tinyurl.com/qxszh49) that uses a section of the song (but unfortunately it cuts out the crescendo, which is my favourite bit of the song, baww).

Spyed: YessssSSS. I love that song! Good Nezumi conflict songs are my favorites.

Golly, so much good music here.

I got one--I'm big on soundtracks and instrumentals since lyrics kind of get in my way when I'm trying to do things at the same time.

Have a reallllly good remix of the ICO ost.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GFx58xDy-8U

Yeah, it's called girl in the white dress but it's an instrumental and the original song is called Castle in the Mist. BUT it's alway struck me as traveling music. It kind of feels like a wandering star and a fixed one. At least I think so. It's tough to explain the feelings of an instrumental song but yeah. I think it's pretty great.

 http://youtu.be/rQKMLmXc0xo  (http://youtu.be/rQKMLmXc0xo)

"I'm an angel with a shotgun
Fighting 'til the war's won
I don't care if heaven won't take me back
I'll throw away my faith, babe
Just to keep you save
Don't you know you're everything I have~"

Of Course! I loved No.6 for years and just got into it again when I showed it to friends of mine... but I never really thought about connecting here with others, No.6 fandom and all. I was just sad that so few people around me actually know the anime/manga/novel.. D:
But I have to say that I haven't read the novel yet, just started yesterday online... Here in Germany where I live they just started publishing the manga, the first two volumes are out atm and I bought them as soon as I found out :3

....... wow okay, so I came here to share a song and I TOTALLY MISSED THAT RECOMMENDATION. I've heard the phrase 'angel with a shotgun' before (for Shion at least, also for other fandoms) but I had never actually listened to the song and it fits so well, thanks for sharing @Kaoru! I hope you're still around somewhere, it'd be nice to see you here again ^^

But yes I came here to shamelessly revive this topic because I was looking up Taylor Swift's album 1989 the other day and, well.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PVAfR3QjFKo

Taylor Swift - Out of the woods

(...)

Looking at it now, last December
We were built to fall apart, then fall back together
Your necklace hanging from my neck,
The night we couldn't quite forget
When we decided (We decided)
To move the furniture so we could dance
Baby, like we stood a chance

(...)

Remember when you hit the brakes too soon
Twenty stitches in a hospital room
When you started crying
Baby, I did too
But when the sun came up
I was looking at you
Remember when we couldn't take the heat
I walked out, I said, I'm setting you free
But the monsters turned out to be just trees
When the sun came up
You were looking at me

... okay those last three lines are just hopeful on my side, but ssh. ;) And the woods, well. I thought it fit. But tbh I will make every song fit No. 6 these days. (Implying I didn't do that before, ahem)

Hello~ So, I really love music and all the song recs on here are GREAT!! >w<! I'm so happy there's a page like this (and that I found it xP)!

I have a lot of Nezushi feels, and I recently discovered 8tracks sooo… >w>

Here are 6 playlists I made on there, if you want to look at them (http://8tracks.com/pigeonsimba)

@jjbinkes I think a compilation playlist is a super fun idea!! I'd be willing to do it on 8tracks--but then I think the RC would need to get an 8tracks account, that way the official playlist isn't sitting in my account, where likely only 1/1 million people will see it.

I don't know Ahiku but that last song you posted, it made me see future of Nezumi and Shion where Shion failed to recreate city, everything turned to ruin, Karan died and all Shion's friends left to other cities...
I don't know why... really but that story just poped out when I heard it... (Maybe I should write it down someday XD?)

This is sooo NezuShi. ^^ First I thought it's perfect for Committee Shion... but then I thought it suits Nezumi better. o.o Hm~

Oh god, I just thought that thread was gone... o_o°

Here...this song is beautiful, but it always makes me feel depressed. ^^° I think it's very fitting for Shion, who's waiting for reunion.

Especially this part:

Quote
I wonder where you are
And I wonder what you do
Are you somewhere feeling lonely?
Or is someone loving you
Tell me how to win your heart
For I haven't got a clue
But let me start by saying
I love you

Okay...and the rest of the song. XDDD Ah, but that "Are you lonely, or is someone loving you" part is so sad. ;_; And sooo very Shion-y. ^^°
